Does Vagisil Cream Cure Yeast Infection

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
I have a yeast infection and I accidentally used Vagisil instead of Monistat 7 in my vagina. Am I ok?
I have been using Monistat 7. That's the applicator insert that cures yeast infections. I accidentally grabbed the wrong tube and filled the applicator with regular Vagisil - the anti-itch cream. I didn't realize it until I inserted the applicator and pushed the plunger. Will I be okay? I know vagisil is an external cream. Please help.

    • ANSWER:
You should be fine. I have also put it inside my v and nothing happened. You probably shouldn't do it again though. Just watch it for the next couple of days and if you have any changes in your symptoms then call your doc.

  2. QUESTION:
How long does fluconazole take to cure a yeast infection?
My gyno diagnosed me with a yeast infection on the 24th. She prescribed me a pill called "fluconazole" to treat it. Her directions were to take the first pill that same day, and take the second pill 3 days later, which was today. She also said to buy vagisil external itch cream for my itching and irritation.

Well the itching and irritation has gone away, most likely because of the vagisil though. How long do I have to wait until I know my yeast infection is completely gone?

    • ANSWER:
Your symptoms usually go away with in 3 days after the start of the medication, and unless it was a bad yeast infection it should be cleared up in 7 days.

      Good luck!

  3. QUESTION:
Does the Vagisil cream actually cure the yeast infection or just cure the symptoms?
The cream that is applied JUST to the outside.

    • ANSWER:
No. It does not cure the infection. It just soothes the itch, burn and smell....(and it barely does that) Go to walmart and get an inserted pill called monostat. It works the fastest and less messy than creams ;)

  4. QUESTION:
Can sorbolene cream cure yeast infection?
Please tell me is sorbelene cream can cure yest infections, please tell me! I really need to know! My vagina is really itchy and i really need to know if it can cure yest infections! Please tell me!

    Thank you for your advice!

    • ANSWER:
I wouldn't try using that on your vagina. It says its used for different things, eczema, decreases wrinkles, and it does say it helps with itching but I think your better off going to a gyno or your family doctor for a real prescription. Until you can see a doctor I would suggest a warm bath and an anti-itch cream for the outside of your vagina, Vagisil anti-itch cleansing wipes will work. Good Luck.

  5. QUESTION:

      Yeast infection info:
About yeast infections: Your vagina in its normal state has healthy bacteria and bad bacteria. As long it stays balanced like that you have no problems. The balance can become unbalanced causing the bad bacteria to overgrow and multiply causing you to have yeast infection symptoms, itching, lots of discharge that over time increases and becomes clumpy. Things that can cause the bad bacteria to multiply is scented tampons, soapy soaks, soap in the area, tight underwear and pantyhose, very hot baths, high hormone birth control, taking antibiotics, uncontrolled diabetes, douching, low immune system, lack of lubrication (like with sex).

You do not need to go to the doctor for a yeast infection. Many women do and I have no idea why. Why do a pelvic exam if you dont need to.

For the itching buy Vagisil cream. They sell different types, regular, maximum etc. http://www.vagisil.com/vaginal-odor-antiā€¦ The Vagisil tube will last for several yeast infections.

To treat the infection. You can buy products like Monistat or Vagistat etc. They sell different types, 1 day, 3 day, 7 day. That does not mean it cures in the number of day you pick, that is just how many days you treat it, it still has to run its course. Yeast infections take a week to cure.

There are other things you can take to speed along the process. You can drink 100% cranberry juice but it has to be that and no sugar or sweeteners. I dont like to do that so I buy Cranberry tabs at the grocery or pharmacy vitamin isle. One bottle can treat several yeast infections.

Also buy acidophilus lactobacillus (AL) in the grocery or pharmacy isle. Again one bottle can treat several yeast infections.

Buy plain yogurt, This is a must to get better. Greek is better. No sugar, no fruit no sweeteners. It tastes like crap but this will really make you better. Buy a big tube and eat 3 big spoon fulls 3 times a day.

Note yeast multiplies like crazy with yeast, so if you have a yeast infection avoid sugar drinks and foods.

I personally do not like to take Monistat type products. They are expensive. I keep at my home cranberry tabs, acidophilus lactobacillus and Vagisil. That way if I ever get a yeast infection I have all the stuff I need to treat it at home. Then all I have to do is buy plain yogurt. For a yeast infection I take 2 cranberry tabs a day, 2 acidophillus lactobacillus a day, eat the yogurt as I stated above and put Vagisil on the outside for itching

Also note before bed, soak in a cool bath so the area cools down, apply some Vagisil and you will sleep in peace no itching.

Whether you treat with Monistat or my way you should see and feel improvement on a daily basis because the bad yeast bacterial should be lessening so your symptoms should be lessening. Your discharge should be less, itching should be less and discharge should be less clumpy on a daily basis. You should keep treating yourself for a week even if you are feeling better to make sure to treat it completely. If not and its getting worse then it may not be a yeast infection. It could be bacterial vaginosis, STD or STI. Bacterial vaginosis is that the bacteria that is multiplying is not yeast but a different strain of bacteria and unfortunately with that you do need to see a doctor because you need a prescription because no over the counter medications will help that. Bacterial vaginosis cause is just random. There is no reason yout get it, you just can. If its not BV then it could be a STD or STI but you are only 13 and not sexual yet so that wont apply to you now. However, when you do become sexually active you can give your boyfriend a yeast infection and if he does not treat his (again no doctor needed) then he could give it back to you.

  7. QUESTION:
Bathing in yogurt to treat yeast infection?
So I was reading online about some home remedies for a vaginal yeast infections. They said to eat a certain amount of yogurt for a full week, and to even apply plain, sugar free yogurt to the area. Which sounds a little weird, but it's less expensive than buying a kit. So I was thinking.. would adding a bunch of plain yogurt to a bath be effective also? Or would that kill any of the good germs in the yogurt that would help with my yeast infection?

    • ANSWER:
it's possible, but it has to be active yoghurt with living bacteria in it like a probiotic drinking yoghurt, as the bacteria in the yoghurt can cancel out the yeast for a few days
you should ask your doctor for some over the counter remedies such as Monistat, or call your doctor and tell them you need a prescription for Diflucan. It usually cures a yeast infection in one dose.
but it could be that it isn't a yeast infection,
it could be bacterial vaginosis, or just the natural cleansing of the vagina.
but there's a number of things you can do to stop the smell, and help.
i heard that to put a yeast infection in order patting on a bit of yogurt might help and it i advised this to one of my patients who claimed it works! after a few days the smell should vanish, do the yogurt thing every few days, and when your on your period dip a tampon in yogurt before insertion. but it has to be a yogurt with ACTIVE bacteria in it, not the flavored dead kind.
but DONT douche, it can make it worse and can lead to all kinds of infections etc.
just rinse it with water every day, dont rub it hard,
i've been told bathing in apple cider vinager cures bacterial vaginosis in one go, but sometimes it can worsen matters if used incorrectly (being inserted into the vagina)
loose/cotton pants, don't sleep in underwear, it helps to 'air' it
avoid tight clothing, but a panty liner will absorb allot of odour and discharge
talcom powder is really good at taking away smell
take a bath to help cleanse the area, wiggle around
i've heard that rinsing it in salt water is good for it,
canesten cream and pessaries are really good for clearing yeast infections
try vagisil products, the wash, cream, wipes etc.
drink water lots and lots of water, stay away from beer, sugars and carbs,
drinking pinapple juice can apparently help,
and instead of using loo roll use female hygiene wipes, or make-up wipes.
this isn't a fullproof method, just a few things i picked up at medical practice, but if symptoms persist after a few weeks you should go see your doctor or a gynaecologist
      hope i helped

  8. QUESTION:
Is sexual activity okay after using monistat?
I called my gynecologist & told her my symptoms like when I usually get a yeast infection, I've only had one before so i called to make sure & she told me to get monistat like the antibiotic that you push in there & kills the infection with wipes & cream, my boyfriend and i were planning to have sex tonight, how long should i wait for the pill to dissolve to have sex?

    • ANSWER:
      I can help you!

First, it will be perfectly fine for you and your boyfriend. Now you said pill?

Are you referring to a suppository because I thought Monistat only comes in a cream. If it's a cream, you just need to wait like and hour or two... if it's a suppository you will need to wait at least 4 hours.

However, here is my concern. You are using Monistat. Not a good idea. Very "Western medicine methodology". There are other remedies out there that will help you that are all-natural and waaaay less expensive than Monstat. Plus antibiotics usually alleviate the symptoms temporarily. They are actually one of the causes of recurrence of yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. (btw, you stated that this was your SECOND one, 'you've only had one before', right? So that means that it's recurring...

Now you can go and do a lot of research on the web about this... OR you can go my little website and get the info you need RIGHT NOW.

I dealt with recurring yeast infections for most of my life. I was 11yrs old when I had my first yeast infection. On a funny note: I was living with my grandparents at the time and my grandfather thought I was having sex due to my yeast infection and gave me a good "whipping". It was only at dinner when my uncle (who is a pharmacist) explained to him HOW one can get a yeast infection and that you can get them WITHOUT having had sex. Ha! I digress.

If your condition comes back, or you want more info now, and you are interested in my little secret remedy (uses all-natural ingredients and will help your condition without antibiotics) then check out http://helpmyvaginasmells.com (yes yes I know, funny title.. I did that on purpose)

Its HUMOROUS and informative! I can HELP YOU.

Don't get caught up in the Monistat, Vagisil, RepHresh wipes, antibiotic endless cycle. I was there for YEARS!!!!

Good Luck on your journey! And have fun with yo' man....

      Ahjah

P.S. Just FYI, if you do have a yeast infection, you CAN give it to your man. His symptoms will NOT be obvious. Be careful with this as this can start a vicious cycle of reinfection. You give it to him, you cure your, he gives it back to you, etc etc.....

  9. QUESTION:
What yogurt to use to cure yeast infection? Can't find a sugar-free one..?
I suffer from yeast infections and it's exhausting. I have heard women RAVE about using the tampon/yogurt trick. But they say to use a sugar-free yogurt. I cannot find this ANYWHERE! What specific brand do you use so I can try to find it? Monistat takes too long, and Vagisil burns like a blow torch.

    • ANSWER:
Basically the reason you have a yeast infection is because there's an imbalance in your body. A healthy person has a balance between the yeast in their body and the good bacteria in their body.

Too much yeast, you have a yeast infection. Too much bacteria, you have a bacterial infection.

So, when you have a yeast infection you essentially have too much yeast in your body relative to the good bacteria. The natural way to treat it and bring back that balance is to starve the yeast and introduce more good bacteria into your body.

Oh and BTW - That's why you often get relief from using the over the counter meds temporarily, and then the yeast infection comes back. The creams aren't changing the source of the problem. They are just killing the yeast they come in contact with, and not balancing the yeast/bacteria in your body and actually sometimes end up making things a lot worse.

Oh BTW2 - That's also why many times you'll get a yeast infection after using antibiotics. Antibiotics kill all the bacteria in your body, the good and the bad. When that happens the balance between the yeast and good bacteria is off, and once again and you get a yeast infection.

Things you can add to your diet (to help promote good bacteria) are live yogurt cultures (or take Acidophilus), plenty of water, fresh vegetables, lots of protein rich foods, whey protein, raw garlic, nuts, seeds, oils, millet, rice and oat brans

Things you should remove from your diet (to starve the yeast) are all sodas, sugars, fruit, fermented foods, foods containing white flour, alcohol (especially beer), antacids and any product that has yeast or mold

Changing your diet will definitely get you on the road to balancing the yeast and good bacteria, but what I would also recommend is to use a homeopathic solution to help naturally speed up the process.

I always feel if there's a natural way to do something, then it's best to avoid the chemicals. I would look for an natural product, that can be taken orally to promote re-growth of the good bacteria in your body.

There are a few out there, I think they are probably all pretty good. One that I have used and was very effective for me was is yeastrol.
      Best of Luck!

Hope this helps and best of luck! :)

  10. QUESTION:
What can cause genital itching in diabetics?
Do you know of what can cause genital itching in a diabetic? Its not a yeast infection or STD.
Can dishydrotic eczema on the hands and feet also cause problems in the genital area?
Steroid creams not working only Vagisil to stop itching. Doctor doesn't seem to know!
    SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY- OR REPORTED!!!

Johnny M: hygiene is excellent and why do you assume diabetics are not as thin as "healthy" people?
Its NOT a yeast infection. Was treating for that for months with no help!
Those pictures are disgusting- didn't really need that!

    • ANSWER:
Diabetes can affect every part of the body, including the skin. As many as one third of people with diabetes will have a skin disorder caused or affected by diabetes at some time in their lives. In fact, such problems are sometimes the first sign that a person has diabetes. Luckily, most skin conditions can be prevented or easily treated if caught early.

Some of these problems are skin conditions anyone can have, but people with diabetes get more easily. These include bacterial infections, fungal infections, and itching. Other skin problems happen mostly or only to people with diabetes. These include diabetic dermopathy, necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum, diabetic blisters, and eruptive xanthomatosis.

      Fungal Infections

The culprit in fungal infections of people with diabetes is often Candida albicans. This yeast-like fungus can create itchy rashes of moist, red areas surrounded by tiny blisters and scales. These infections often occur in warm, moist folds of the skin. Problem areas are under the breasts, around the nails, between fingers and toes, in the corners of the mouth, under the foreskin (in uncircumcised men), and in the armpits and groin.

Common fungal infections include jock itch, athlete's foot, ringworm (a ring-shaped itchy patch), and vaginal infection that causes itching.

If you think you have a yeast or fungal infection, call your doctor. You will need a prescription medicine to cure it.

      Itching

Localized itching is often caused by diabetes. It can be caused by a yeast infection, dry skin, or poor circulation. When poor circulation is the cause of itching, the itchiest areas may be the lower parts of the legs.

You may be able to treat itching yourself. Limit how often you bathe, particularly when the humidity is low. Use mild soap with moisturizer and apply skin cream after bathing.

      Diabetic Dermopathy

Diabetes can cause changes in the small blood vessels. These changes can cause skin problems called diabetic dermopathy.

Dermopathy often looks like light brown, scaly patches. These patches may be oval or circular. Some people mistake them for age spots. This disorder most often occurs on the front of both legs. But the legs may not be affected to the same degree. The patches do not hurt, open up, or itch.

Dermopathy is harmless. You do not need to be treated.

      Necrobiosis Lipoidica Diabeticorum

Another disease that may be caused by changes in the blood vessels is necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum (NLD). NLD is similar to diabetic dermopathy. The difference is that the spots are fewer, but larger and deeper.

NLD often starts as a dull red raised area. After a while, it looks like a shiny scar with a violet border. The blood vessels under the skin may become easier to see. Sometimes NLD is itchy and painful. Sometimes the spots crack open.

NLD is a rare condition. Adult women are the most likely to get it. As long as the sores do not break open, you do not need to have it treated. But if you get open sores, see your doctor for treatment.

      Diabetic Blisters (Bullosis Diabeticorum)

Rarely, people with diabetes erupt in blisters. Diabetic blisters can occur on the backs of fingers, hands, toes, feet, and sometimes, on legs or forearms.

These sores look like burn blisters. They sometimes are large. But they are painless and have no redness around them. They heal by themselves, usually without scars, in about three weeks. They often occur in people who have diabetic neuropathy. The only treatment is to bring blood sugar levels under control.

      Eruptive Xanthomatosis

Eruptive xanthomatosis is another condition caused by diabetes that's out of control. It consists of firm, yellow, pea-like enlargements in the skin. Each bump has a red halo and may itch. This condition occurs most often on the backs of hands, feet, arms, legs, and buttocks.

The disorder usually occurs in young men with type 1 diabetes. The person often has high levels of cholesterol and fat in the blood. Like diabetic blisters, these bumps disappear when diabetes control is restored.

      Digital Sclerosis

Sometimes, people with diabetes develop tight, thick, waxy skin on the backs of their hands. Sometimes skin on the toes and forehead also becomes thick. The finger joints become stiff and can no longer move the way they should. Rarely, knees, ankles, or elbows also get stiff.

This condition happens to about one third of people who have type 1 diabetes. The only treatment is to bring blood sugar levels under control.

      Acanthosis Nigricans

Acanthosis nigricans is a condition in which tan or brown raised areas appear on the sides of the neck, armpits, and groin. Sometimes they also occur on the hands, elbows, and knees.

Acanthosis nigricans usually strikes people who are very overweight. The best treatment is to lose weight. Some creams can help the spots look better.

      Good Skin Care

There are several things you can do to head off skin problems:

Keep your diabetes well managed. People with high glucose levels tend to have dry skin and less ability to fend off harmful bacteria. Both conditions increase the risk of infection.

Keep skin clean and dry. Use talcum powder in areas where skin touches skin, such as armpits and groin.

Avoid very hot baths and showers. If your skin is dry, don't use bubble baths. Moisturizing soaps, such as Dove or Basis, may help. Afterward, use an oil-in-water skin cream, such as Lubriderm or Alpha-Keri. But don't put lotions between toes. The extra moisture there can encourage fungus to grow.

Prevent dry skin. Scratching dry or itchy skin can open it up and allow infection to set in. Moisturize your skin to prevent chapping, especially in cold or windy weather.

Treat cuts right away. Wash minor cuts with soap and water. Do not use Mercurochrome antiseptic, alcohol, or iodine to clean skin because they are too harsh. Only use an antibiotic cream or ointment if your doctor says it's okay. Cover minor cuts with sterile gauze. See a doctor right away if you get a major cut, burn, or infection.

During cold, dry months, keep your home more humid. Bathe less during this weather, if possible.

Use mild shampoos. Do not use feminine hygiene sprays.

See a dermatologist (skin doctor) about skin problems if you are not able to solve them yourself.

Take good care of your feet. Check them every day for sores and cuts. Wear broad, flat shoes that fit well. Check your shoes for foreign objects before putting them on.

Additional information: Vagisil is a medication used to treat yeast infection. You mentioned above that only Vagisil stops itching. Therefore, if Vagisil works, it would have to be a fungal infection like the one described on paragraph 3 by the American Diabetes Association.

  11. QUESTION:
Can a yeast infection go away on its own?
I've had yeast infection symptoms for about a month on and off. I KNOW it's not an std. What could be going on??

    • ANSWER:
They can but go away on their own but usually get worse and its dangerous not to treat them.

  12. QUESTION:
what is the best cream to get rid of labia itch?
my labia has been itching terribly for the past two days.

what cream is best to take away the itch?
it needs to be vaginal friendly too (:

I don't know if this is a yeast infection yet, i will be going to the gyn next week.

    thanks

    • ANSWER:
depends on the cause of the irritation.

Try changing your laundry detergent to a sensitive skin formula or perfume and dye free formula. Avoid wearing synthetic fabric underwear, as well as thongs or g-strings, as they can make the irritation worse through spreading bacteria from your rectum and perineal area in to vaginal area.

Also when showering or bathing, avoid using soap in your vaginal area, keep to just straight warm water, and avoid using bubble bath or oils if bathing.

a topical hydro cortisone cream 0.5% - 1% which is available over the counter, should help if applied sparingly to the external areas affected, as well as over the counter yeast infection treatments if you are sure that is in in fact a yeast infection.

A yeast infection typically presents with itching, burning, and thick white to yellow discharge that may or may not have an offensive odour, and may look curdled or clumpy.

The only real treatment to cure this problem is an anti-fungal such as monistat, or vagisil kits for yeast infections.

It could be bacterial vaginosis or if sexual active gonorrhea or chlamydia.

  14. QUESTION:
Vagina red and raw from yeast infection?
I was out of town at a conference this weekend and got a really bad, full-blown yeast infection on Friday. I couldn't get to a drug store until Sunday and I bought a seven day Monistat. While this is helping clear up the infection, I am so raw from letting it go for so many days. Is there anything I can do to soothe myself besides Vagisil, which I am already doing? I thought I may try Vaseline tonight, but is there anything better?

    • ANSWER:
Vaseline can help soothe the vaginal erea. Also soaking in warm water in the tub. Apply monistat cream on the outside of the vaginal erea. Go see your dr. There is an prescribe pill named fluconazole that cure yeast infections.

  15. QUESTION:
Where do I go for a vaginal infection?
Im 17 yrs old and I think I have an infection in my vagina but I want to get it checked out I'm not too sure where to go.
Do I go to my family doctor or do I call up a gynecologist? I've never been to the gyno before and I'm going without my parents cause I'm embarassed so do I bring insurance as well? Does the Gyno get covered by insurance in Canada?

    • ANSWER:
You do not have to go to a doctor to treat a vaginal infection. Unless you have serious pain or signs of infection like fever, a lump or something like that then you can treat it yourself and if it does not get better then as a last result you go to the doctor. I have never had an STD or anything like that but have had several yeast infections and have never went to the doctor for that. After treating for a yeast infection, then it could be a bacterial infection which then you do need to see a doctor because that requires a prescription. Also if you tried to treat it and it continues and you think it could be an STD then you need to see a doctor.

For the itching buy Vagisil cream. The Vagisil tube will last for several yeast infections.

It has acidophilus in it and kills yeast bacteria. Buy a big tub and eat 3 big spoon fulls 3 times a day.

Note yeast multiplies like crazy with sugar, so if you have a yeast infection avoid sugar drinks and foods.

if i put my penis in a cup that has 1/4 filled with white vinegar and 3/4 filled with hot water
( a home cure for yeast infection) will it damage my penis if i dont have a yeast infection or another infection?

    • ANSWER:
Yeast infections are very common and so is the cure. The white vinegar may give some relief at the start but you need some longer term solutions
Go to the men's health aisle at the drug store and get something for jock itch. If they do not have it, go to the women's hygiene aisle and pick up something for vaginal yeast infections (Canesten, Monistat, Vagisil) Follow theapplicationninstructionss on the package. If it is a yeast infection, you will experience immediate relief. Keep using the cream until the instructions tell you to stop. Stopping as soon as the symptoms disappear will only cause the infection to come back, and stronger than before.

  19. QUESTION:
What cream can help cure yeast infections?

    • ANSWER:
      Vagisil.

  20. QUESTION:
What can I use to cure or relive a vaginal yeast infection?

    • ANSWER:
If you have never had a vaginal yeast infection before then I suggest you go to the doctor and have them examine you so you are sure you have one. If you treat for a yeast infection, but do not have one then you can cause yourself to get a yeast infection.

If for some reason you cannot go to the doctor then I suggest you get the Vagisil Screening Kit for vaginal infections. It will tell you the pH of your vagina and in turn you will be able to use that information to know if you have a vaginal infection and narrow it down to what you could have. The test tests for yeast infections, Bacterial Vaginosis, and Trichomoniasis.

      http://www.vagisil.com/vaginal-discharge-infections-screening-kit.shtml

If you have either Bacterial Vaginosis or Trichomoniasis then you will need to go see your health care provider for antibiotics to cure those infections.

If you have a yeast infection and can't go to the doctor for treatment then you can go to the pharmacy and find many vaginal creams to treat a yeast infection. You can look here at the different creams there are here:

      http://www.monistat.com/our-products.jsp

If you do have either a yeast infection you could have gotten it from many things, but I just want to add that never use feminine wipes or baby wipes around your vulva. And don't douche either. Doing those things will kill the good bacteria in your vagina that keeps the bad bacteria from coming in and causing an infection.

      Good luck

  21. QUESTION:
I have a really bad vaginal smell and I'm scared. I can't see a doctor until December 8th. What should I do?
Should I go to the emergency room?

    • ANSWER:
The best thing for you to do, is go wait until your appointment. I would NOT advise you buying anything over the counter other than some vagisil cream for itching if you have discharge that is itchy. Other than that, DO NOT get a yeast infection treatment or anything to cure any type of vaginal infection because you do not know what is causing this. I advise you to wear panty liners if you have a discharge, and try to stick it out until you can get to your doctor. You can potentially make the situation worse with over the counter products when you are not sure what the problem is. You may have just a yeast infection or it could be something serious such as an STD. Your doctor is the best one to treat this problem. If you think that the odor is really bad, and you have any type of pain, I would go to the ER, you will get seen and get soem treatment that can help until you can make it to your doctor.

  23. QUESTION:
does vagisil work for yeast infections ?

and are you supposed to put it INSIDE your vagina ?

    • ANSWER:
vagisil will help with the itching and burning but does not work to cure a yeast infection. Monistat is medication you can buy to treat/cure a yeast infection, yes it is inserted into the vagina either as a cream using an applicator or small suppository ovules.

  24. QUESTION:
I've tried everything to get rid of my yeast infection. What now?
Okay. I've ha this yeast infection for about 2 years after being raped..so I've Tryed using monestat cream, vagisil, vagisil extra streanth, monestat 3 and minestat 7 day, and vagiguard. Nothing is working and my symtoms are getting worse. I have no money for the doctor... What can I do now.?

    • ANSWER:
it might not be a yeast infection? i thought i had a yeast infection for months and finally went to the doctor to find out i just have weird discharge lol (it sucks!) anyway, planned parenthood can help you out for free and if you DO have a yeast infection, they can probably give you something that can help because i've heard of a lot of women not getting help through monistat, some women need prescription medicine to cure it. good luck!!! :)

  25. QUESTION:
    What classifies abnormal discharge?
for the last several months i'll be sitting in class and feel like im starting my period because out of no where i'll feel liquid coming out of me, but i'll go to the bathroom and its just discharge. Why is my body producing so much? is there something wrong with me?

    • ANSWER:
abnormal discharge would be were it causes discomfort, itching or inflamation, and it had an odour and maybe caused an odour around the vaginal area
it sounds like you have a yeast infection
you should ask your doctor for some over the counter remedies such as Monistat, or call your doctor and tell them you need a prescription for Diflucan. It usually cures a yeast infection in one dose.
but it could be that it isn't a yeast infection,
it could be bacterial vaginosis, or just the natural cleansing of the vagina.
but there's a number of things you can do to stop the smell, and help.
i heard that to put a yeast infection in order patting on a bit of yogurt might help and it i advised this to one of my patients who claimed it works! after a few days the smell should vanish, do the yogurt thing every few days, and when your on your period dip a tampon in yogurt before insertion. but it has to be a yogurt with ACTIVE bacteria in it, not the flavored dead kind.
but DONT douche, it can make it worse and can lead to all kinds of infections etc.
just rinse it with water every day, dont rub it hard,
loose/cotton pants, don't sleep in underwear, it helps to 'air' it
avoid tight clothing, but a panty liner will absorb allot of odour and discharge
talcom powder is really good at taking away smell
take a bath to help cleanse the area, wiggle around
i've heard that rinsing it in salt water is good for it,
canesten cream and pessaries are really good for clearing yeast infections
try vagisil products, the wash, cream, wipes etc.
drink water lots and lots of water, stay away from beer, sugars and carbs,
drinking pinapple juice can apparently help,
and instead of using loo roll use female hygiene wipes, or make-up wipes.
this isn't a fullproof method, just a few things i picked up at medical practice, but if symptoms persist after a few weeks you should go see your doctor or a gynaecologist
      hope i helped

  27. QUESTION:
Poll: How do i cure my yeast infection?

    • ANSWER:
There are some treatments for yest infections OTC, but a lot times it turns that the infection is of a bacterial nature and you might need antibiotics. You could buy some products just to see your symptoms disappear, and if they don't, just go see your doctor. Remember: do not douche... it does not help.

(For OTC), they all contain the same active ingredients, in the same amounts- so a generic version will also work. If you've had the infection for a few days, you will likely want a three day treatment at least. If you've had it for a while, and have a lot of irritation, you should consider a seven day treatment. The medications are not so strongly concentrated, and are less likely to set fire to your nether parts as a one day treatment would do. If you are irritated a lot on the outside, it will be worth it to get an anti-itch cream at the same time, they are on the shelf next to the yeast remedies most of the time. Vagisil makes a nice one, there are others which also will work. Monistat is the most usually used medication for the yeast infection, but there are plenty of others as well. Use it as directed, and don't have sex until you are clear. If the first round of treatment doesn't work, do a second round. Sometimes it just takes a second treatment to finish the job. If a second treatment doesn't help, then you really have to see the doctor.

  28. QUESTION:
Is there an herbal remedy to cure athletes foot?

    • ANSWER:
Apply Listerine to a sterile cotton pad and rub onto feet twice daily. No need to rinse.

      Hydrogen Peroxide
Soak your feet in a basin in over the counter Hydrogen Peroxide (Brown Bottle). Soak for 20-30 minutes. Save the same solution to repeat the following day. Twice is all that I do and it works.

Create a solution of one part vinegar and four parts warm water. Soak the feet for half an hour twice daily.

      Aspirin
. Dissolve about five aspirin tablets in 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol and swab the solution onto your feet after showering/bathing. The alcohol will allow the aspirin to soak into your skin due, killing the fungus. Using this mixture before putting your shoes on in the morning, and after taking them off each evening, can prevent future outbreaks.

Sounds weird...but...if you put vagisil (women's yeast infection)cream on your atheletes foot...it will sooth the pain.. and within a few days...its gone

      best of all
sandals are the answer but flip flops are better, if you cant wear them outside the just walk about when in your home with them. most fungal infections cannot live in dry conditions. drying your feet also removes the smell.

Cure Athletes Foot & Stinky feet with DISH SOAP. It is antibacterial & antifungul. I found that DAWN Dishwashing Liquid works best ( the original). Be sure to treat your shoes with hot water, dish soap and bleach or better yet get new shoes.

Apply cornstarch to feet before putting on shoes and socks.

  31. QUESTION:
dry skin on foreskin, quite painful, wondering what caused it and how to cure it?
    ?

    • ANSWER:
There are two things it could be. First, if you are washing with soap under the foreskin, stop doing this. Keep soap about ten feet away,..no closer. Soap leaves fragrance and soap residue on the skin. If it is on your arm, and dry most of the time, it does not cause a problem. If it is under the foreskin, it will reactivate in the moisture and cause irritation. Also, the soap removes all the moisture from this area. Just use clear, clean shower water to rinse this area during the shower. Anything that accumulates under there is water soluble and will rinse off with water only.
The other thing it could be is a yeast infection. Yeast infections just happen so do not think it is because you are dirty. They often show themselves as dry skin. Go to the drug store and look in the mens health aisle for a product to treat Jock Itch. If you cannot find it, go to the women's hygiene aisle and look for Canesten, Monistat, or Vagisil. All these products are effective treatment for yeast infections. You will notice immediate relief if it is a yeast infection. Continue to use the cream as per instructions. Do not stop when the symptoms disappear or they will come back.
      Hope this helps.

Does my wife have yeast infection ?
Last night I was licking / touching my wife's pussy and it looked pretty bad and as soon as I starting licking it she said it tickled but it was getting itching and she started scratching it and it looked kind of red down there around it. It didn't smell to bad because she had body spray on it smelled pretty good but it was just itchy. She doesn't want to go to the hospital she wants to take care of it at home. Is it a sign of yeast infection ? How can we treat it ? She's afraid.

    • ANSWER:
If a female has any kind of discharge other than normal or any itching then that means she has some type of infection like yeast, bacterial vaginosis, STD or STI.

So a female knows when anything is different down there so she would know not to have sex, especially oral sex when she has it. That is just not right.

If she does have a yeast infection and you had oral and vaginal sex you can get that you know.

If it looked bad then why continue?

For the itching buy Vagisil cream. The Vagisil tube will last for several yeast infections.

It has acidophilus in it and kills yeast bacteria. Buy a big tub and eat 3 big spoon fulls 3 times a day.

Note yeast multiplies like crazy with sugar, so if you have a yeast infection avoid sugar drinks and foods.

It could be bacterial vaginosis.

  35. QUESTION:
do u think natures cure will get rid of my yeast infection?
    there pills u take orally

    • ANSWER:
I had a yeast infection not too long ago...it was horrible. I was inflamed, itchy, and had gross discharge. I tried alternatives rather than going to a doctor for a few days but could not tolerate it so I went to the gynecologist and got cream to relieve the itch and pills to kill the infection. I highly recommend going to the doctor and getting a prescription because your infection could get a lot worse.

Also, most people mistake other conditions for a yeast infection so it is important to diagnose the condition as what it truly is. Get an at home screening test, Vagisil has a great one. If you test positive then go to the doctor! Or take a Vagisil product to kill the yeast, which my doctor also recommended to take if I should get another yeast infection.

Maybe try "natures cure" for a few days and if you don't see improvement it

  36. QUESTION:
I think I may have a yeast infection-- any ideas to help me?
I'm 13 years old and I've been having foul odor down there, itching, burning, and redness. I'm not sure if I should try vagisil wipes or cream....are those products safe? and what should I do to make it all go away?

please help me! i don't know what to do!

    • ANSWER:

  37. QUESTION:
Do i put vagisil on the outside or inside of my "down there" to cure a yeast infection? HELP!?
    confused ! first yeast infection!
do i put it on the INSIDE OR OUTSIDE? aghhhhhh!

    • ANSWER:
Hi! The product should have come with an applicator or multiple applicators depending on what product you buy. You use the applicator to put the product inside your vagina. You may have gotten a cream to put on the outside to help with the itch and discomfort. Hope this helps!

  38. QUESTION:
How can you tell u have yeast infection? and how do u get it?

    • ANSWER:
You will begin to have a discomfort down there, with a lot of itching and soreness. Also, you may get a thick, foul smelling discharge.

You can get a yeast infection from numerous things, such as wearing tight pants, sex, antibiotics, some birth control pills, certain foods, pregnancy, diabetes, etc.

Most over the counter medications help treat yeast infections, such as Monistat. You can also get creams, such as Vagisil, for the outside irritation. If the over the counter medications do not work, you will have to see a gynecologist and he/she will prescribe you something stronger to treat the yeast infection.

Also, if you are sexually active, it is best to avoid sex until the yeast infection has been cured, or use a backup method such as a condom because a yeast infection can be spread to your partner and the medication you are taking may become ineffective.

  39. QUESTION:
Do I have a yeast infection?
The labia and the area around the labia are really itchy, it's been like this for a few days now. I'm pretty sure I don't have a white discharge. However, I just wanted to make sure. If I do have a yeast infection what should I do, as this is my first yeast infection ever. Also, which is more effective? The pill treatment for yeast infection, or cream, or are they equally effective? Oh, and also, is it bad to have sex while you have a yeast infection?

    • ANSWER:
Get the cream for yeast infections. They don't have pills for them that you take by mouth... they are pretty much like the cream, but look like an egg and you put them up your vagina.
I'd use the cream, but you would probably want to use a pantyliner when using the cream.
They have 1 day treatments, 3 day treatments, even 7 day treatments. Pick the one best for you. Monistat is the best brand to get.
Vagisil, I believe, sells these little test kits so you can see what the issue is. It could be BV, it could be a yeast infection, or it could be something worse. These test kits can tell you what your ph is, and then tell you what that ph means. I used it when I had my first yeast infection, got the treatment, and was free of it within days.
However, everything I read said to see a doctor if it is your first yeast infection. I didn't, but it would be a good idea if you're a younger woman.

      *edit*
I saw that the person below me mentioned antibiotics... they do not cure yeast infections. Yeast infections are caused by a fungus, not a bacteria. Antibiotics can actually CAUSE yeast infections. Antibiotics kill the body's natural microbiota, which throws off the ph, which can lead to yeast growing like crazy.
The only one I ever had was caused when I was on antibiotics to prevent infection from a dog bite I had gotten.

  40. QUESTION:
    Yeast infection getting worse?
I went to the doctor the beginning of this month and she asked me if I was itching or had any irregular discharge because it looked like I had an external yeast infection. She said I should buy some A&D and apply it to see if it works. Only problem is, now I have the itching and I can't stop. I've applied the A&D, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better, I'm worried this could affect the baby, and plus I think I may be loosing my mucus plug. I'm trying to control my itching but it feels like I have the chicken pox all over again except only in the area around my vagina, but not inside it or anything. I don't see her again until the 3rd, is there anything I can take now that is safe for pregnancy and natural? I don't want to take any creams or meds without her consent. I'm 33 weeks pregnant. Thanks.
I've never had a yeast infection that I know of, so I'm really lost.

    • ANSWER:
I don't know why your doctor would advise A@D for yeast, it doesn't treat that.

You can either buy some vagisil to temporarily relieve the itch until the next time you see her. Or you can buy monistat 3, that will cure the infection.

I just got over a yeast infection and my doctor prescribed 2 suppositories that cured it in one day....

  41. QUESTION:
Do I (I'm an man) have a yeast infection?
I live up in Pennsylvania and traveled down to New Orleans. It was very warm down there and I was out in the sun sweating all day long, drinking a lot of alcohol, and other simple sugars. I began to notice red patches on the shaft of my penis. Since then It has spread to other parts of the shaft and head. It is a little itchy. Do you think it is a yeast infection? and how is it cured?

    • ANSWER:
Yeast infections can just happen so it is not a sign of lack of cleanliness,....and yes,....from what you describe, it sounds like a yeast infection.
      Here is what to do:
Go to the drug store and look in the men's health aisle for a produce to treat jock itch. If you cannot find it, go to the women's hygiene aisle and look for a product to treat vaginal yeast infections like Monistat, Vagisil, or Canesten, They will all work.
Apply the cream as per the instructions. If it is a yeast infection, you will notice immediate relief.
Continue to apply the cream until the instruction on the tube tell you to stop,...not just until the symptoms disappear.
If you have a partner, they will also need to take the treatment even though they may not be showing any signs of infection.
      Hope this helped

  42. QUESTION:
    Yeast infection and sex?
I'm 21 years old and I have been battling a yeast infection for the last 2 months. At first it was really bad it burned and itched I then used monistat day 7. It cleared it up and within 2 weeks I was getting the same burning feeling. I just started monistat day 7 last night and hopefully it clears up. I need it to clear up in 7 days because it's my boyfriends birthday and I'm planning to have sex with him for the first time. My question is their anything I can do to clear this up faster? Is it okay to have sex right after I finish treatment? I read that condoms won't work while using treatment? Any advice?

    • ANSWER:
I hate to say this but this is not a good plan. I know you want to, but it's not the greatest idea.

First, him: guys can get yeast infections. They tend to (not always) get it from women. As horrible as it is for us, they are not use to getting infections up there and can you imagine getting the treatment up such a small tube? It's not pleasant. You guys could give it to each other (symptoms are not the same. Sometimes the guy will get it, she will cure it, then he will give it back to her). Some birthday.

Next, you: While yeast infections do generally cure in a week of treatment, it's not EXACTLY a week. No, ending the treatment does not mean cured (just think of the one-dose treatments). Condoms can give you yeast infections (or make one worse) because the spermicide can change the balance, giving yeast a chance to take over. Oh, and here's the best part: the tissues are irritated so it could HURT. Also, you might not lubricate in the same way and/or that process may hinder healing.

So no, no, no, no, no. Get a gift or plan a different sexual activity that does not involve vaginal penetration.

To help it heal quicker: change underwear and liners frequently (I change liners every few hours with infection, and underwear once to twice a day - because I have the liners). Keep the area clean and dry (some people do powders, but if you go that route, make sure it is a vaginal powder meant fo ruse in that area). There is anecdotal evidence that Neutrogenia soap is the best for this sort of thing; I would say just as plain soap as possible, possibly all natural (I personally suggest a tea tree oil soap - anti-fungal - or carbonic - antiseptic and antimicrobial. I have friends who swear by the simplicity of Ivory). Feel free to use additional antifungal medication on the outside (creams like Monostat's external cream, Canestan, Vagisil, etc.) to give more protection from what your body is washing out, as well as aiding your comfort. Even if you do everything, it still is not safe in such a short time frame. Your body needs time to recover.

Take it from someone who lost her virginity the wrong way: it is a gift, but not a birthday gift. Birthdays are about him, the losing virginity thing is about you. That conflicts. He might then be all worried about you. You can have "side effects" from losing your virginity (most don't feel pain, but a fair portion do. There's the breaking of your hymen, which can irritate and give you bleeding/tissue discharge. I personally got a yeast infection from the guy's cheap condom...) and, if he cares about you, it's going to suck for his birthday if he is worried about you. Plus, the first time is a nervous event, and how fun is that for his birthday? It's a good idea on paper, but the reality is not great. Make it a different event.

Hopefully you can find a satisfying alternative.

      Feel better soon!

  43. QUESTION:
how long does it take for this yeast infection to stop?
it itched then i used vagisil this is my first time with a yeast infection im 15
    how did i get it
does sex have anything to do with it

every so often it feels like idk it dryed out like i need more cream or somthin please help me
when will this all be ova

    • ANSWER:
sweetie ...vagisil is not for yeast infections...you need Caneston or maybe Monistat for that...they will cure your problem...

Use it every night for 6-7 days and you will start to feel relief the very next morning after 1 night of treatment....I promise...

Do these few easy things to help keep yeast infections away...

      wear 100% cotton panties
      avoid excess sugar
dont use soap on your girly bits just water
      avoid tight pants and jeans
keep your crotch cool and as aired out as possible

How did you get it?,,,possibly not doing these things above and antibiotics can give you a yeast infection...it is not an STD and you do not have to have sex to get it...infact most of us just get it from an overload of stress and too much sugar...

  46. QUESTION:
Can you have a yeast infection with no discharge?
My only symptom is that I'm itching. Not internal, just external.. The lips(labia) are what itch. I have no discharge, no burning, no odor, just itch. What could it be? Is it possible to have a yeast infection with no discharge? I think its a maybe a skin fungus or something. I realize I committed the big no no by going to the gym in leggings and then not changing immediately after. What do you guys think? STD is highly unlikely. I think it was caused by my negligent leggingsgym thing..but even so what will cure this itching? I'm trying to avoid the dr if the VagisilMonistat cream will cure it. Have you ever heard of a condition that is not a yeast infection but itched? Or have you heard of a yeast infection with no discharge or odor?

  47. QUESTION:
I've been extremely itchy in my vag and butt hole -I know that's so gross I'm sorry but it's bothering me?
For quite a few days and I'm wondering it could be and how to fix it haha:(

    • ANSWER:
It could be a yeast infection. Even if your not sexually active and you took antibiotics. Get so Vagisil they have cream, and medicated wipes. And if that don't take care of it I would suggest getting Miconazole 7. Its to cute a yeast infection, it a cream that you insert into the vagina, its just like a tampon. And its only 7 days. Then there's also AZO yeast, which are pills. The only thing that cures a yeast infection, is the Miconazole. All the rest just help with the itching. Also see if you have a discharge.. That comes with the yeast infection. Hoped this helped! Good luck. If it is a yeast.. It can be a pain in the a**.

    A question about Vagisil?
I have a yeast infection so I asked my mom to take me to the doctor, but she said I should just get some cream for it. So she bought me Vagisil but on the box it says "relief of itching" it doesn't say it cures yeast infections at all... but she said it would cure it.
I'm confused whether or not it will actually get rid of the infection or just make the itching go away.
    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
it's gonna relieve the itching..i doubt it'll get rid of it..plus...are you positive u have a yeast infection? u should go see a doctor..cause if u use that stuff and it's not a yeast infection it might make matters worse...i thought i had a yeast infection cause it's the exact same symptoms but it turned out to be BV(bacterial vaginosis) it happened to me cause i switched soaps (i can only use Dove) and from douching...so go get checked out...whether its yeast or BV they'll just give u a pill...they might offer u cream...but i recommend the pills..they're gross but it's better than the cream cause it gets so messy and confusing...
and if you go to planned parenthood, it should be free for everything...

    A Question about Vagisil..?

    • ANSWER:
Vagisil relieves symptoms, it does not treat the cause.

      Natural protocol for yeast infections:
Garlic capsules 2 caps 3x daily (fights the infection)
Biotin 300 mcg 3x daily (inhibits yeast growth)
Probiotic 2 caps daily (restores normal bacterial balance)
Vitamin C 2000-5000 mg daily (improve immunity)
Tea Tree Oil applied topically (fight infection, reduces itching)

Avoid sugar, fruit, refined carbohydrates, alcohol, and all dairy products except yogurt.
